The Thwaites award winning shires made a star appearance at the first Preston Farmers Market recently, complete with the special 200 years dray.
Thwaites was one of the sponsors of the day and stole the show with the beautiful beasts leading the procession through the town, before pulling up alongside the Mayor of Preston, Cllr Bill Tyson to officially open the market. Traffic was brought to a stand still as the horses made their way up Ring Way and were met by a crowd of visitors, eager to catch a glimpse of the horses.
The event drew a crowd of over 4,000 people which the organisers, the Preston Chamber of Trade were very pleased with. The next one is planned to coincide with the Radio One Big Weekend on 20th May.
Richard Sullivan the joint chief executive of the Preston Chamber of Trade said:
“There was a fantastic buzz and to say the horses were a big draw would be an understatement. They were extremely popular and really added a lot of flair to the event.”
