Heart-y Sum Is A Record For Thwaites
10/03/2008
Daniel Thwaites has paid heart-felt tribute to all its personnel, pubs, clubs and customers across the country after raising an astonishing £110,000 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
As part of its bi-centennial celebrations, the northern brewer pledged to focus its fundraising efforts throughout 2007 on raising money for the nation’s heart charity – a cause that is held dear to many employees within Daniel Thwaites.
To celebrate the impressive amount raised, Thwaites invited Penny Hamer, corporate partnerships manager for the BHF, and former Emmerdale star Claire King to the brewery, to accept the large cheque.
Thwaites’ marketing executive Christine Robinson said: “Last January Claire King officially launched our BHF fundraising campaign. Her support has been absolutely fantastic and so we are delighted to have welcomed her back to the brewery."
“Early last year we pledged to raise £25,000 for the charity but the support from everyone, including Claire, made it clear that we would far exceed this figure.”
Penny Hamer continued:” Everyone, from every corner of the Thwaites business took the cause of the BHF to their hearts. I am absolutely staggered and thrilled with the amount of money that has been raised’.
“The money that has been raised will make a significant difference to the work of the BHF, enabling us to extend our services across all communities.”
