What is your cancellation policy?
As long as you cancel your booking before 10am on the day before you’re due to arrive, there will be no charge. Bookings cancelled after 10:00am on the day before you’re due to arrive will be charged for the first night’s stay. No Shows will be charged for the first night’s stay.
What is the Advance Purchase Cancellation policy?
Your credit or debit card will have been charged at the time of booking, and this is a non-refundable, non-transferable amount. Should you need to cancel there will be no refund applicable.
Yes Character Rooms and Feature Rooms. £25.00 additional charge per night. All our rooms are very individual and offer the same home comforts throughout – but a couple of them have wonderful beams and some extra special views over the village green and will be just the inspiration you need to jump out of bed in a morning. Just let us know if you’d like to book one of these when you make your reservation.
Do you hold rooms provisionally?
No we take a credit card to guarantee reservations and our cancellation policy then applies.
Are there special rates for corporate bookings?
Corporate rates are available on request.

3pm – Early check in can be arranged on request.

Available at £10.00 subject to availability until a maximum of 2pm.
What is offered in the guest rooms?
Tea and coffee making facilities, en-suite bathroom with bath and/or shower, complimentary toiletries.
Do you have a room with a bath?
Most of our rooms (except the new Garden Rooms) have a bath; if you specifically would like one please call us when making your room reservation.
Do you have travel cots/Z-beds available? Do you charge for it?
Yes, we have a limited supply and there is no charge.
What are the bar’s opening times?
The bar opens from 10.00 am to 11.00pm Monday to Saturday. 10.30pm on Sunday.
Is wifi available?
Wifi is now available in all rooms and all public areas.
Is car parking available?
We do recommend travelling by train wherever possible as we have no on site car parking and we are only a 10 minute walk from the station over Lendal Bridge. We recommend Marygate carpark on Frederick Street (YO30 7DT). You can drive up to The Judges Lodging and drop your bags off and we will then direct you to the car park. Or head straight there & walk to the hotel through the picturesque Museum Gardens (5 minute walk). The car park is take a ticket and pay on exit . Charges are approximately £12/24 hours.
Are pets allowed in the rooms?
We’re sorry but we are only able to accept working dogs.
Are dogs allowed in the bar ?
We love to welcome well-behaved owners and their dogs to the inn, but please be aware that not everyone loves your dog as much as you do. To help us keep happy customers of both 2 and 4 legged varieties please observe our simple requests:
- Dogs are allowed in the bar area, but not in the dining only areas
- Please don’t let your dog jump or pester other guests, or their pets or disturb others by barking
- Make sure your dog is clean and dry before they come in to the inn
Is there disabled access?
Yes- We have one accessible guest room which has it’s own parking space, and separate entrance. The Cellar Bar and downstairs dining areas are fully accessible.

Our menus offer an array of traditional dishes that you know and love. You can enjoy freshly prepared dishes to order using the best ingredients from local areas all bought from our trusted suppliers, including delicious cuts of meat, seasonal vegetables and cheeses.

Served from 7:30am ’til 9:30am weekdays and 8:00am ’til 10:00am weekends and bank holidays.
