Northern brewer, Thwaites, was last night named as Pub Champion 2012 at the inaugural British Beer & Pub Associations (BBPA) Industry Awards.

After being shortlisted in three categories, the family-owned brewer walked away from the ceremony as the awards first ever winners of the Pub Champion accolade.  The win recognises Thwaites’ commitment to ensuring pubs remain at the heart of communities, a hub for friendship and a place for socialising.

The awards, which recognised company and individual contributions to the sector, were judged by leading experts from the industry, media and political arena.  The winners were revealed at the BBPA’s Annual Dinner which was held last night at the London Marriott Grosvenor Hotel.

Andrew Buchannan, Director of Pub Operations at Thwaites said: “Everyone at Thwaites is very proud to be named as the BBPA’s Pub Champion 2012.  We are dedicated to providing pubs of the best quality, run by landlords who care, and where customers feel welcome and at home. Every one of our 320 strong estate has contributed to this win.

“The award is recognition of our determination to create an enduring legacy of sustainable businesses. We thoroughly enjoyed the awards, and very much look forward to next year’s event.”
