Thwaites Triumphs at National Awards

Thwaites Pub Company has been announced as a winner at the prestigious 2012 Publican Awards.

The Lancashire-based, family-run brewer has been awarded the title in the Best Tenanted/Leased Pub Company (200 plus sites) category at a glittering awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The team at Thwaites beat off competition from what the judges described as an “unprecedented number of quality award entries” to become one of three companies to make it onto the final shortlist.

Andrew Buchanan, director of pub operations at Thwaites said: “This is tremendous news and a major achievement for us. The judging process was very intensive and in the final we were up against two of the biggest pub companies in the country, so to have been crowned overall winner is fantastic.

“This award not only reflects the hard work of the area business managers but also the genuine team spirit we have built at Thwaites, with above industry average support to our tenants all provided by our own employees.  As an independent, family-owned business, brewing and quality pubs is at the core of what we do. Pub and licensee support and ongoing investment is critical to both the pub estate and our brewery and to receive industry recognition for this is testament to all of our hard work.”
