Each of our hotels offers a range of health, fitness, relaxation and spa treatment facilities to cater for hotel residents, spa day guests, local spa treatment clients and over 6000 leisure members across six hotels.
About the Programme
The Spa Graduate Programme provides students, graduates and individuals with a strong interest in both sport and leisure the opportunity to gain valuable work experience, either over a short voluntary work placement period or a more structured 12-month paid placement. It involves spending time at one of, or a variety of hotels, helping to ensure that those involved are able to gain valuable experience within the workplace in an area that holds a strong interest and association to their studies.
The Spa Graduate Programme will expose candidates to a variety of key business areas, which will be fundamental to any future business experience. The key areas covered are:
Strong communication is fundamental to the success of any business and, in this section, the company will help to identify why, in a hotel environment, it is crucial to not only deliver good customer service, but also motivate employees and build a solid team that reflects and supports the hotels’ offering.
Sales & Marketing
As the economic climate continues to present a more challenging environment and the competition within the leisure industry remains strong and dynamic, Sales and Marketing represents an enormous amount of our business activity. This section covers a vast number of areas that will help Spa Graduates gain invaluable experience in how companies have to adapt their Sales and Marketing strategy and the importance of being proactive and innovative in order to sustain a strong position in the marketplace.
Finance & Control
Our Spas operate under a departmental Profit and Loss account, taking responsibility for all aspects of the business, from the day-today transactions at our control desk through to monthly direct debit collections for Spa Memberships. This section covers all of the accounting requirements and a detailed review of working with budgets and profit & loss accounts.
Thwaites Hotels & Spas offer premium priced Spa facilities that cater for a specific niche in the market place and, with this in mind, the facilities and service levels provided have to be to the highest standard. It is crucial that the operational requirements within the Spa are delivered to the highest standard and this section will help graduates to understand the fundamental parts of the business that help to support the S&M strategy and financial targets for the company.
Personnel & Training
Crucial to supporting and delivering any successful business model, we understand the importance of recruiting the right individuals in order to support and reflect our strong customer focused culture. This section also covers the key departmental specific training requirements that will help to develop individuals into more senior positions.
