What is your cancellation policy?
As long as you cancel your booking before 10am on the day before you’re due to arrive, there will be no charge. Bookings cancelled after 10:00am on the day before you’re due to arrive will be charged for the first night’s stay. No Shows will be charged for the first night’s stay.
What is the Advance Purchase Cancellation policy?
Your credit or debit card will have been charged at the time of booking, and this is a non-refundable, non-transferable amount. Should you need to cancel there will be no refund applicable.
Yes Character Rooms. £25.00 additional charge per night. All our rooms are very individual and offer the same home comforts throughout – but a couple of them have wonderful beams and some extra special views over the village green and will be just the inspiration you need to jump out of bed in a morning. Just let us know if you’d like to book one of these when you make your reservation.
Do you hold rooms provisionally?
No we take a credit card to guarantee reservations and our cancellation policy then applies.
Do you provide a dinner inclusive rate?
Yes we do offer some dinner inclusive rates at certain times of year.

Do you have a room with a bath?
Yes but not all our rooms have baths so please ask about this when you make your booking with us.
Do you have travel cots/Z-beds available? Do you charge for it?
Yes, we have a limited supply and there is no charge.
What are the bar’s opening times?
The bar opens from 11.00 am to 11.00pm . Monday to Sunday.
Is wifi available?
Wifi is now available in all rooms and all public areas
Can you provide directions?
By Road from the West – Leave the M6 at junction 36, then at roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A65, signposted for Kirkby Lonsdale. At the next roundabout, in approximately 1/3 mile, take the 2nd exit onto the A65, signposted for Kirkby Lonsdale and Skipton. After a further 5 ½ miles, take the 2nd exit onto the A65, signposted for Skipton. ½ a mile later turn left onto the B6480, signposted for Settle. Follow this road for approximately 3 miles this will bring you to Settle. Drive into Settle, through the Market Square and The Lion at Settle is approximately 20 yardson the left hand side; By Road from the East – Exit the A1(M) at Junction 47 and take the A59 exit to York/Knaresborough/Harrogate. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto York Road / A59 heading to Knaresborough/Harrogate/A661/Bradford/A658. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A658 and go straight through the next roundabout. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Wetherby Road/A661. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Skipton Road/A59. Follow the A59 for approximately 20 miles, going through 3 roundabouts. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A65 and stay on for approximately 15 ½ miles. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto B6480, signposted for Settle. Follow this road for approximately 3 miles and this will bring you to Settle. Drive into Settle, through the Market Square and The Lion at Settle is approximately 20 yardson the left hand side.
Is car parking available?
We have 3 car parks in the town all close to the Lion. The nearest is Ashfields car park, Guests can pull into our gated area to unload their belongings. We have maps in the reception area that we give to customers showing the car park locations.
Are pets allowed?
Yes– We are a dog friendly inn with dog friendly rooms. Your four-legged friend is very welcome, all we ask is you bring your own dog bed and towels out of consideration for the other guests. We do charge £15 per stay for your dog to join you in your room; this is so we can give the room the extra special attention needed afterwards to ensure is pristine for the next arrivals.
Are dogs allowed in the bar ?
We love to welcome well-behaved owners and their dogs to the inn, but please be aware that not everyone loves your dog as much as you do. To help us keep happy customers of both 2 and 4 legged varieties please observe our simple requests:
- Dogs are allowed in the bar area, but not in the dining only areas
- Please don’t let your dog jump or pester other guests, or their pets or disturb others by barking
- Make sure your dog is clean and dry before they come in to the inn
Is there disabled access?
Unfortunately due to the historic nature of The Lion building we are unable to offer bedrooms located on the ground floor.
Do you have cycle storage/drying room?
Yes we have both. The cycle storage is secure and under cover. We also have an area to store motorcycles.
Do you serve breakfast?
Served from 7:00am ’til 9:30am weekdays and 8:00am ’til 10:00am weekends and bank holidays.
Is private dining available?
We don't have any private areas but will happily arrange tables for larger parties in the main dining area.
Food & Drink Opening Times
Food is served from 12noon right through ‘til 9.00pm at night Sunday to Thursday and 12noon ‘til 9.30pm Friday and Saturday - giving you every excuse to enjoy a ten hour hike in The Dales –or an extra forty winks in your room... And if you take your food seriously – rest assured – so do we.
