Are there different room types to choose from?
Yes - and different buildings too. We offer rooms in the main inn, in the cottage next door and then in our brand new Lister Barn development too. Each one is individual and if you have specific needs it's always best to give us a call and we can talk you through the options to make sure you choose the best one for your stay.
Can I hire the Lister Barn in its entirety?
Yes - you can book all eight rooms in our fabulous Lister Barn for your family and friends and have the place all to yourselves!” We have special packages ranging from a range of cakes and treats on arrival, to a full fridge of wines, beers and soft drinks for you to enjoy over your stay, to private dining to help you celebrate any reason! If you book all eight rooms as a group you will receive a 10% discount, to qualify we need a 25% deposit at the time of booking and a further 25% 4 weeks before your say, please note any deposits paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
What is the Advance Purchase Cancellation policy?
Your credit or debit card will have been charged at the time of booking, and this is a non-refundable, non-transferable amount. Should you need to cancel there will be no refund applicable.
What is your cancellation policy?
As long as you cancel your booking before 10am on the day before you’re due to arrive, there will be no charge. Bookings cancelled after 10:00am on the day before you’re due to arrive will be charged for the first night’s stay. No Shows will be charged for the first night’s stay.
Do you hold rooms provisionally?
No we take a credit card to guarantee reservations and our cancellation policy then applies.
When is check in?
2pm - if you're planning on arriving earlier please let us know and we can do our best to try to accommodate this for you.
When is check out?
11am each morning please.
Do you offer late check out?
Available at £10.00 subject to availability until a maximum of 2pm.
What is offered in the guest rooms?
Tea and coffee making facilities, en-suite bathroom with bath and/or shower, complimentary toiletries.
Do you have a room with a bath?
Yes it’s in room 14 – it is our only room with a bath in the main building, but most of our rooms in the Lister Barn offer bath and showers.
Do you have travel cots/Z-beds available? Do you charge for it?
Yes we have both available on request, free of charge, just the additional breakfast is charged.
What are the bar opening times?
The bar opens from 12noon to 11.00pm daily.
Is wifi available?
Wifi is now available in the bar and dining room.
Is car parking available?
On site car parking – free of charge. If you're staying in the main inn or the cottage please use the main car park. The Lister Barn has its own private car park too.
Can you provide directions?
By road – 21 miles from the end of the M65, which terminates in Colne, Lancashire. It is well signposted from all directions, but care needs to be taken on the narrow country lanes; By Rail – Gargrave train station is about 7 miles away and Skipton train station is 11 miles away; By Air – Leeds Bradford airport is around 35 miles away. Local buses run to Malham from Skipton, via Gargrave, between Monday and Saturday. The Saturday service is the most frequent, with four return journeys throughout the day.
Are pets allowed?
Yes – We do charge £15 per stay for your dog to join you in your room; this is so we can give the room the extra special attention needed afterwards to ensure is pristine for the next arrivals. 10% of this charge is donated to the SARDA (Search and Rescue Dog Association). If you wish to bring your four-legged friend along, please let us know at the time of booking and we’ll prepare your dog friendly room for you and your extra special guest! We allow dogs in bar area , not at the restaurant. We arrange tables for breakfast at the bar area for residents with dogs.
Is there disabled access?
The bar and restaurant are accessible by wheelchair – Unfortunately due to the historic nature of The Lister building we are unable to offer bedrooms located on the ground floor and we don't have a lift. However, we do have an accessible room in our brand new Lister Barn.
Is there a meeting room?
We're not really a 'corporate' type of place but if you're looking for team building and off-site adventures then the dining room can double up as small briefing room for the team- or you may want to think about booking the Lister Barn for exclusive use too.
Do you have cycle storage/drying room?
We have cycle storage at the main inn. If you're staying with us in the Lister Barn there is a drying room for guest use.
Our approach to food is simple – we work hard to source local and regional produce, prepared simply in house and served in a relaxed and friendly, yet professional style.
We serve food 12 noon until9.30pm Sunday to Thursday then 12 noon till 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant does get busy, so please do book a table with us if you’d like to eat there.
Everyone is welcome to dine in the bar; we don’t reserve tables in this area.
The bar opens from 8am to 11pm daily; with the exception of Sunday when last orders is 10.30pm.
What type of food is served?
Our menus offer an array of traditional dishes that you know and love. You can enjoy freshly prepared dishes to order using the best ingredients from local areas all bought from our trusted suppliers, including delicious cuts of meat, seasonal vegetables and cheeses.

Served from 8am ’til 10am everyday.
What type of breakfasts are served?
Full English or continental. If you're staying with us in the Lister Barn you'll just need to pop over to the inn to enjoy your breakfast.
Can you organize packed lunches for the morning? What do we get and how much does it cost?
We’re happy to provide a picnic lunch for you to take when you’re for the day – a sandwich, crisps, cake, fruit and a drink is just £8.95, please book the night before if possible.
Do you have different menu for your restaurant?
The menu is the same for bar and restaurant, there are special dishes on every evening with soup of the day, catch of the day, pie of the day and some extras.
Are dogs allowed in the restaurant?
Dogs aren’t allowed in the restaurant this is the only area our furry-friends can’t access. If you want to dine with us and bring your dog then you’re more than welcome to dine in the bar area but tables cannot be reserved.
What is there to see and do in the local area?
Malham itself has a colourful history and is referred to in the Domesday Book as Malgun. It has been a settlement for over a thousand years and traces of Iron Age boundaries are still in evidence. But, where once mills and mines stood, today Malham is home to hill farms, a thriving local community and passionate fell walkers and dog lovers. No, you do need to bring everything with you when you come to Malham including cash if you need it !
