Diners at Aztec Hotel and Spa had an evening to remember when the kitchen and restaurant teams swapped roles for a fun charity evening on 24 November. The hotel’s two chosen charities, Teenage Cancer Trust and St Peter’s Hospice, will both share the amazing £2,500 raised on the evening.
Executive head chef Marc Payne and his team traded places with head of guest experience James Pound and the front of house team for this ‘one night only’ experience, with Marc’s team of chefs taking centre stage in the restaurant serving guests, while James’ team donned chef’s whites and took on the heat of the kitchen.
The 99 diners, who paid £5 to attend the event, were then invited to pay what they felt their meal was worth. From the funds raised, and the wonderful feedback from the guests, it was evident that both teams certainly rose to the challenge.
Marc Payne, executive head chef, said: “Both of the teams did a sterling job on the night. I was incredibly impressed by the food produced by James’ team in the kitchen who managed to deal with a busy evening without any issues. My team also did me proud and all seemed to really enjoy being out in the restaurant and interacting with the diners. The main thing was that all the guests received the usual excellent service and delicious food they expect at Aztec Hotel and Spa and the novelty of the event added to the fun atmosphere of the evening.”
Normal service has now resumed in the restaurant where dinners will be able to feast on the wonderful delights created by Marc and his team, and expertly served by James and his team.
