The Christmas wishes of beer lovers have been granted with a fabulously festive beer – Fairyt-Ale, from Thwaites. The festive draft, available in all House of Daniel Thwaites hotels, is a tasty alternative to the traditional Champagne, mulled wine or eggnog served at Christmas and allows beer drinkers to enjoy their favourite pint while keeping in the festive spirit.
The specialist ale has been produced following a brand-new recipe by the master brewers at the Thwaites’ Brewery in Mellor Brook, Lancashire.
Assisting the brewers with this new ale, was Tom Rose, General Assistant from North Lakes Hotel and Spa, one of the House of Daniel Thwaites hotels which will be serving this festive draft. Working with brewer Glyn Bennett, who has been brewing for 40 years, novice Tom helped with the whole brewing process from adding the malt and hops to emptying the spent grain. Being a craft brewery, the process is very manual, and the brewing took an entire day to complete before it starts the fermentation process.
The Fairyt’ale Ale is a traditional English ale with a nutty and biscuity taste, perfect for winter.
Brewer Glyn Bennett said: “We are delighted with the festive beer and know that ale drinkers will enjoy being able to have a pint at their Christmas celebrations. The recipe was created to combine the high-quality taste expected from Thwaites beer with a hint of winter and the Christmas spirit.”
Tom Rose, from North Lakes Hotel and Spa, said: “It was so interesting seeing the brewing process first hand and I’m looking forward to seeing the hotel guests getting to experience this new ale over the Christmas season, knowing I had a hand in producing it.”
The name of the beer ties in with the ‘Fairytale of New York’ themed Christmas Parties being held at the House of Daniel Thwaites Hotels, where revellers can celebrate with family, friends and colleagues with great food, dancing and a casino.
