TV viewers were entertained by eight celebs taking part in the Real Full Monty this week laughing with them and feeling their anxiety as they got set to bare all, and feeling the pride of overcoming such a public challenge.
And cheering them on every step of the way, were the cast at Funny Girls, Blackpool.
They had a particular reason to cheer the stars on, as the eight female celebrities turned to the stars of the Blackpool cabaret showbar for inspiration before they took to the stage.
Singer Coleen Nolan (Loose Women), reality TV star Megan Barton Hanson (Love Island), tennis champion Martina Navratilova, BBC Journalist Victoria Derbyshire, Lisa Maffia (So Solid Crew), Actress Crissy Rock (Benidorm), soap star Laurie Brett (Eastenders) and Danielle Armstrong (TOWIE) enjoyed a night at Funny Girls as they prepared to bare all for The All New Monty 2019: Who Bares Wins.
By the end of their night out, all of them appeared on the Funny Girls stage to the delight of the unsuspecting audience and they all then went back stage to chat to the Funny Girls.
Funny Girls’ DJ Zoe said: “ITV were looking for the ultimate professionals to give advice about performing with passion and without inhibitions – of course they came to Funny Girls, it’s what we do every night!
They all had a great time, they enjoyed watching our spring show and then came backstage to have a chat.”
The Real Full Monty show has been a big success for the past two years, winning a recent Broadcast Award for Best Popular Factual Programme of 2018. When ITV approached Funny Girls to see if they would be willing to share any performance tips, they were happy to oblige.
They also had a special surprise for Coleen as they interrupted their usual spring show routine with a one-off performance of the Nolans’ I’m in the Mood for Dancing.
DJ Zoe added: “It went down a treat, Coleen was straight on stage joining in and the other celebs were filming it on their phones and cheering – but even they couldn’t help themselves and by the end they were all on stage with the dancers.
With our advice and inspiration, I have no doubt they will all do a fantastic job with the All New Monty and we wish them all the best with raising awareness of these really important health issues.”
