For a break with the family
For the perfect getaway

The places we call home include some of the most magical spots in England, from mighty mountains and charming dales to fascinating cities and peaceful coasts. Walk out of the door and there’s discovery in every direction, whether you’re scaling the heights, seeing the sights or just pottering round for the joy of it.

Lake District
The birthplace of fell walking and English romantic poetry boasts many superlatives: the tallest mountain, the largest lake, the most dog-friendly towns. Walk, run and swim amid a colour palette that changes with the seasons, from daffodil yellow and Herdwick grey to heather purple – and Thwaites Gold.

Yorkshire Dales
Nowhere does pub walks like the Yorkshire Dales, where ancient inns in bonny villages are linked by footpaths criss-crossing the emerald curves of limestone country. Follow the Dales Way for some waterfall-spotting or explore Malhamdale’s extraordinary rock formations. You’ll always be within striding distance of an excellent pint.

Lancashire
Far from the gadding crowds drawn to its neighbouring national parks, our home county is full of well-kept secrets. Find solitude among the bird-rich Bowland fells or take a sunset stroll along Morecambe Bay. When you’re ready for company, you’re in the right place: Lancastrians love to throw a party.

Cotswolds
Dry stone walls rise and fall with the gentle contours of the Cotswolds National Landscape, whose mellow character comes from the same golden limestone that gives the local villages and towns their film-star looks. The third largest protected landscape in England is full of natural and manmade wonders, from wooded valleys and wildflower meadows to Roman ruins, stately houses and luscious gardens.

York
Founded by Romans, invaded by Vikings and contested by feuding English kings, York lives and breathes its rich history through brilliant museums and ancient buildings. Laid out beneath the Gothic towers of its magnificent Minster there’s also a creative modern city bursting with indie spirit and great nightlife. How long have you got?

OurInns
Each of our inns is a unique and historic building, rooted in its community with generations of tales to tell. We’ve restored each one with respect for the past and excitement for the future. Settle in and become part of the story.
OurHotels
From the water’s edge to the city’s heart, off the beaten track and just off the motorway, we’ve got hotels wherever you need them. Work, play, explore or celebrate: we’ll go out of our way to make everything just right.
