Langdale Hotel Hotel awarded highest accolade of AA 5 stars

Located in the heart of the Lake District, on the banks of Lake Windemere, Langdale Chase, a Grade II listed building with its 30 immaculately designed bedrooms, has recently been carefully restored, conceptually reimagined, and transformed into a contemporary hotel like no other in the Lake District.
1st April 2024…// Langdale Chase is refreshingly different and rediscovers the quality of its origins whilst offering impeccable service. Now deservedly recognised by the AA and awarded 5 stars.
AA Hotel Services have been recognising accommodation since 1908 and first introduced the star rating scheme in 1912, recognising and rewarding establishments for the quality and range of their services and facilities.
There are five levels of quality ranging from One to Five Stars and a 5 AA star hotel such as Langdale Chase must meet stringent criteria. These include exceptional levels of proactive service and customer care, luxurious accommodation and public areas, a hotel open seven days a week all year. A range of extra facilities and a multilingual service available. Guests are greeted at the hotel entrance, escorted to bedrooms, with proactive table service in bars and lounges, a high-quality menu and wine list, ‘concierge’ service, 24-hour reception, 24-hour room service, full afternoon tea and more.
Executive chairman at Thwaites, which owns Langdale Chase, said: “This is another fantastic accolade for the hotel and testament to the team’s commitment to producing exceptional services for our guests, day in and day out. Having re-opened just five months ago, Langdale Chase has now achieved five-star status and been crowned The Times’ ‘North Hotel of the Year 2024’.
“We’re excited to see what the future holds and will continue to focus on creating a unique and memorable experience which keeps guests coming back time and time again.”
With 21 spacious bedrooms in the main house, eight bedrooms in the Lakehouse and a private Boathouse suite to choose from, all rooms provide minibars, air-conditioning and marble bathrooms – stocked with products by Cumbrian-based fragrance and natural skincare brand, Bath House. The majority of rooms offer baths positioned to take best advantage of the dreamy lake views, with some ground floor dog-friendly options available too. Accompanying the rooms is a two AA Rosette-awarded restaurant, housed in the main building with floor to ceiling glass windows looking out across the gardens and Windermere.
Langdale Chase also a member of Small Luxury Hotels, is regarded as the best lakeside address in the Lake District National Park and was awarded hotel No.3 in The Times ‘100 Best Places To Stay in The UK for 2024. Built in 1890 as a lavish private residence, Langdale Chase first opened its doors as a hotel in 1937 and houses many special architectural features, including the original boathouse. The hotel is set on 6.4-acres of historic gardens designed by Thomas Mawson, the landscape architect behind the Hague’s Peace Palace Gardens.
